What does statistical office worker do after returning at evening home?
- He drops into sofa, grabs TV remote control and switches on TV. Stays on some TV show for example. ( They had grown up like a mushrooms in current time, and researchers calls TV as a Stream. As somebody said on one Italian channel - festival every day)
And after switching on TV we could start our preparation of supper and arranging small matters. And the same every evening.
One time me and my colleagues have experienced interesting phenomena. We have bought some food during office hours and decided to have our dinner at office. As soon as we gathered our food we dropped into chairs and switched TV on to start eat. Suddenly our colleague comes into the room and asks, why do you guys watch empty program on TV? We looked at TV screen and saw an blue empty channel view on TV. It appeared starting eating we automatically switched our TV on and even didn’t watch it!
Why are we doing this watching TV for a fun? Of course, we want to have a rest after hard working day we want to get pleasure from watching TV. A small amount of this pleasure is ok. We can grant us a lazy time after hard work.
And more, lets ask yourself when you go to sleep at late night, - what useful have I done for myself this evening? After good consideration we could se - nothing good. And the things we saw on TV appears to be shit. Lets try to remember what new and useful we saw on TV? So we can conclude we did nothing on evening. Of course we could argue - I have returned after hard day to have a rest and do nothing!
I like to observe, how my friends after watching news on TV, responds to my question- and what was new today in the world? - nothing they answer. Does it seem that after news programme we have wasted time?
Lessons for the future
And if we could apply the same principle for other time wasters?. Tis way would save plenty of time for our true goals and life achievements?
For example we could avoid Junk Reading (journals, adverts,yellow press), Junk Browsing (news reading, reading about things we will never need), Junk food (we know all what I mean) Junk shopping (buying things we don’t need) , Junk sleeping (oh yes!) , and to matter other things such as Junk drinking and other Junks - think about it.
Of course, we cannot change our habit, without changing it with another, more useful habit. “Junk” habits could be changed by other more useful things for example hobbies, or learning some things or active recreation. We need to change one bad pleasure(laziness) to another pleasure (useful of us) which complements our life goals.
