What is happiness? You would probably say - to have much money, wealth, houses, nice cars etc??
Read this breaf story:
Thinking about lunch, the vacationing businessman stared at the calm, blue sea. A small boat, laden with large yellow-fin tuna, docked near the pretty Mexican village. A lone fisherman jumped ashore.“That’s a great catch,” said the tourist. “How long did it take you?” “Not so long,” replied the Mexican. “Why didn’t you stay out longer and catch more fish?” “That’s enough to keep the family provided for.” “What do you do with the rest of your time?” “Sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, have lunch, take a siesta with Maria, my wife. Stroll into the village each evening, sip wine, play guitar and cards with my amigos - a full and rich life, señor.”“I think I could help you,” the visitor said, wrinkling his nose. “I’m a Harvard MBA and this is the advice you’d get at business school. Spend more time fishing, buy a bigger boat, make more money, then several boats until you’ve got a fleet. Don’t sell the catch to a middleman, sell directly to the processor, eventually opening your own cannery. You’d control the product, production, and distribution. You could then leave this small town behind, move to Mexico City, then Los Angeles, perhaps eventually to New York City to run your expanding firm.”But señor, how long would this take?”“Fifteen, twenty years.” “But what then, señor?” “That’s the best part,” the businessman laughed. “When the time is right, you could float on the stock market and make millions of dollars.”“Hmm, millions you say. What then, señor?” “Then you could retire and go home. Move to a pretty village by the sea, sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take a siesta with your wife, stroll to the village evenings, sip wine, and play guitar and cards with your friends.” - Richard Koch
You see, happiness is somewhere else deeper (or otherwise:)) ). Scientists have investigated that happiness is subjective and it manifests not by final achievement of the goals, but by the process of this achieving.
We are happy, when we feel high self-esteem of self-respect.
Self-esteem can be temporaly risen consuming alcoholic beverages, drugs, gaining power, money or cheating oneself. But the most sure way is to seek for the your best attributes your best abilities by creating something you can do the best. Happiness - is the feeling now. It is in present. But how to find your happiness? We have lot of opinions there. Here I have one option, which answers the question - How.
FIRST INGREDIENT. The happiness of life is formed by taking the risks.
When you defeat in risk situation you get higher self-esteem. (I’ll put here excerpt about risks and my additions from one known blog by Tynan.:):
- Physical risk (take active hobby - windsurfing, flying, kiting, sports and so on) - take risks by your physical properties to achieve some goal to win in some sports.
- Social risk (interact with people) - Social risk has no cost, why not to take it? This risk gives high self-esteem, we defeat, and we achieve what we want. You can just take some exercise - just talk to three firstly met persons in the street during the day. Just try it. You’ll feel cool!
- Financial risk (if you want to earn money - you need to give them first) - don’t be afraid to risk money for the sake of getting them. Establish an enterprise if we have a wonderful idea, don’t panic if you will not succeed, in return you’ll get priceless lessons, just establish another enterprise until you succeed. For example R. Abramovich before becoming a billionaire established and bankrupted about 30 enterprises. (the book “R.Abramovich. The billionaire from nowhere.”) .
A lot people are dreaming about some high goals, and are angry, - why I couldn’t achieve this or this without effort, without struggle and risk? But now let’s imagine the situation, If I would have anything, without the fight and efforts?? It would be nice at first, but later still become boring… There is no risk (of not achieving) there is no happiness…
SECOND INGREDIENT. The happiness of life is formed by taking Actions.
Generally speaking we everywhere here have risk of action or action alone. Because where is action without a risk. Just do something you want to do, just start, and you will be happy on the fly:) . Winning in risky conditions is a very nice feeling for every human. (There must be risk in wining. Remember films where superhero wins everywhere by little or no effort? these films are boring…).
1)actions for existence.
Whose who don’t like to risk can try other actions - existence alive therapy, these are all the means which let others to see you living and acting. Charity and funding goes in this category.
2)action for learning.
Lifelong learning goes hand in hand with above methods. Try to learn something even tiny bit everyday. You’ll feel the difference in self-esteem.
3)actions for the big goal. The biggest joy is to approach to the big goal closer every day. After achieving one goal we must set another. Because idling is bad for the happy feeling. The goal must be life goal - of it must be big, generally speaking the big goal is better than little because there are less competitors, not everybody has courage to set such a goal.:)
4) Curiosity. You know how children are curious. They never stop analysing environment. Just be curious and you’ll see how life changes and gets colors.
